Behind the scenes: How Vivacity Prepped for a Sold-Out night with Ferry Corsten

Last Friday (April 24th), Oslo’s Vulkan Arena hit its 800-person capacity. The air was thick with anticipation for Ferry Corsten’s Connect Album Tour, but for our resident DJ, Vivacity, the weight of the night began long before the doors opened.

Despite her experience, this wasn’t just another gig.

“I’ve been a fan of Ferry since the 90s,” Vivacity admits. “I have never had so many butterflies in my stomach before a gig before.”— Vivacity

The Preparation: A Strategic “Deep Dig”

To settle those nerves, Vivacity turned to meticulous preparation. Understanding the gravity of opening for a legend, she spent weeks researching Ferry’s recent productions and evolving sound. The challenge was a technical one: how do you satisfy a crowd hungry for “Trance Classics” when the headliner is the person who created most of them?

“I knew there would be a lot of people expecting to hear Trance Classics, and Ferry has made or remixed a lot of the biggest ones,” she explains. “I had to dig deep to find tunes I could play without stepping on his toes.”— Vivacity

The Performance: Building the Room

By the time she stepped onto the stage, the nerves transformed into focus. Her strategy was a sophisticated blend of Progressive Trance, Melodic Techno, and House sub-genres. The result was a masterclass in building energy, a set that respected the headliner while commanding the room on its own merits.

The validation came quickly. Not only was the crowd cheering and dancing, but the legend himself offered his praise.

“Even Ferry told me he liked the set! I got totally starstruck when he came to take over, even though I’ve met him three times before.”— Vivacity

For Vivacity, the night at Vulkan Arena wasn’t just another night on the calendar, it was more than a career milestone; it was fuel for the future.

“Once I entered the stage I knew this would be a memory for a lifetime. I’m so grateful for this experience. It gave me great motivation to keep up the hard work and to continue to pursue my dream moving forward.”— Vivacity
